Method
 

Cupcake Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the melted butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. Mix alternatingly with milk.
  3. Spoon the batter into cupcake liners and bake for 20-25 minutes. Check with a toothpick for doneness.
  4. Prepare the pecan filling in a saucepan, combining brown sugar, maple syrup, and melted butter. Stir in toasted pecans and cook until bubbly.
  5. Once the cupcakes cool, scoop out the center and fill with warm pecan filling.
  6. Top the cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and drizzle caramel sauce. Optionally sprinkle with more chopped pecans.
  7. Finish by brushing with caramel sauce for a shiny appearance.
