Ingredients

For the Salmon
  • 1 tablespoon Butter Adds richness and helps achieve a golden crust on the salmon.
  • 1 pound Salmon Fillets Ensure they are fresh for optimal flavor and flaky texture.
  • Salt Essential for seasoning; adjust according to your personal taste preferences.
  • Pepper Essential for seasoning; adjust according to your personal taste preferences.
For the Glaze
  • ½ cup Orange Juice Provides sweetness and acidity; freshly squeezed is best for maximum flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Honey Balances the acidity; can be substituted with maple syrup for a unique twist.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce Offers umami depth; opt for low-sodium for a healthier alternative.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Enhances flavor; minced garlic adds a pungent aroma and savory note.
  • Cornstarch optional; thickens the glaze; omit for a thinner sauce.

Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by placing a large skillet over medium-high heat, adding 1 tablespoon of butter. Allow the skillet to get hot, which should take about 1-2 minutes.
  2. While the skillet heats, season your 1-pound salmon fillets generously with salt and pepper. Once the skillet is ready, place the fillets skin-side up into the pan and sear for about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Carefully flip the salmon fillets using a spatula and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F.
  4. Lower the heat to medium, and in the same skillet, combine ½ cup of orange juice, 2 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 2 minced garlic cloves. Whisk together and heat for about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked salmon to the skillet, ensuring each fillet is coated in the orange glaze, then simmer for another minute.
  6. Transfer the orange glazed salmon to a serving platter and serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley.
