Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water with dry active yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together warm milk, granulated sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and egg. Stir in the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add all-purpose flour and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough with a towel and let rest for 10 minutes.
  5. In a medium bowl, mix together granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and ground cinnamon for the filling.
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar filling. Roll tightly from the longer side.
  7. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover and let roll rise for about 30 minutes until puffy.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 18-22 minutes until golden.
  10. While baking, prepare cream cheese frosting by beating cream cheese and butter, then mixing in powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  11. Frost warm rolls with cream cheese frosting after cooling slightly.
