Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine lean ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, and spices. Mix gently and form into six equal patties, about ¾-inch thick.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and internal temperature reaches 160°F. Transfer to an oven-proof plate and keep warm.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat, add flour and cayenne pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring until the gravy thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked patties to the skillet with gravy and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve hot, smothered in gravy, over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
