For the Steak
  • 1 lb Flank Steak Can substitute with skirt or flat iron steak
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil Extra virgin recommended
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh minced for best flavor
  • 1 tbsp Salt Kosher or sea salt works best
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
For the Caprese Salad
  • 1 cup Cherry Tomatoes Halve if large
  • 8 oz Fresh Mozzarella Balls Can use slices if larger
  • ¼ cup Fresh Basil Arugula can be substituted
For the Dressing
  • ¼ cup Balsamic Glaze Can reduce balsamic vinegar with honey as a substitute

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a zip-top bag, combine olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Add the flank steak, seal the bag and refrigerate for 1 to 8 hours.
  2. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F). Remove the flank steak from the marinade.
  3. Place the flank steak on the hot grill. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  4. Let the steak rest on a cutting board for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.
  5. Assemble the Caprese salad by combining cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, and basil in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and add salt, then toss gently.
  6. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain and arrange it on a platter.
  7. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the steak and Caprese salad, then serve immediately.
