Preparation Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, chilled butter, active dry yeast, warm water, and salt. Knead until a smooth dough forms, about 5–10 minutes. Press the dough into a greased deep-dish pizza pan.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown your choice of ground beef or Italian sausage. Add diced bell peppers and onions, cooking until softened, about 8–10 minutes. Drain excess fat and let cool.
- Spread a generous layer of tomato sauce over the prepared crust. Spoon the cooked meat and vegetable filling over the sauce, then sprinkle a hearty amount of mozzarella cheese on top.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the assembled pizza pie for 30–35 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Carefully remove the pizza pie from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing into wedges.
