Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Garlic Sesame Green Beans
  1. Rinse the fresh green beans under cool water, trimming the ends as needed. In a large skillet, combine the green beans with just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan, about ¼ cup. Cover the skillet and bring to a boil over medium heat. Steam the green beans for 6-7 minutes until they are tender-crisp and vibrant green.
  2. Once the green beans are steamed, carefully remove the lid, allowing the remaining water to evaporate. Increase the heat slightly and let them sauté uncovered for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Lower the heat to medium, then add 1-2 tablespoons of olive or avocado oil to the skillet. Immediately stir in the minced garlic, sautéing for about 2 minutes or until fragrant and golden.
  4. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce and a tablespoon of toasted sesame oil, along with crushed red pepper flakes if using. Sauté everything together for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. Season your Garlic Sesame Green Beans with salt and pepper to taste. Once plated, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds generously over the top.
