Step-by-Step Instructions for Garlic Sesame Green Beans
- Rinse the fresh green beans under cool water, trimming the ends as needed. In a large skillet, combine the green beans with just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan, about ¼ cup. Cover the skillet and bring to a boil over medium heat. Steam the green beans for 6-7 minutes until they are tender-crisp and vibrant green.
- Once the green beans are steamed, carefully remove the lid, allowing the remaining water to evaporate. Increase the heat slightly and let them sauté uncovered for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Lower the heat to medium, then add 1-2 tablespoons of olive or avocado oil to the skillet. Immediately stir in the minced garlic, sautéing for about 2 minutes or until fragrant and golden.
- Stir in 1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce and a tablespoon of toasted sesame oil, along with crushed red pepper flakes if using. Sauté everything together for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Season your Garlic Sesame Green Beans with salt and pepper to taste. Once plated, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds generously over the top.
