  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Balances out the sweetness for a well-rounded flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Enriches every bite with delightful flavor; experiment with almond or coconut extract.
  • 2–3 drops Red or Pink Food Coloring Adds the festive color; adjust for desired intensity.

Equipment

  • medium saucepan
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Parchment paper

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by popping 12 cups of popcorn using your stovetop or an air popper. Transfer to a large mixing bowl, ensuring to sift through and remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1/3 cup of half and half or evaporated milk, 1/4 cup of light corn syrup, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves and allow to boil gently for about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 2–3 drops of red or pink food coloring. Mix thoroughly until the color is evenly distributed.
  4. Drizzle the warm syrup over the prepared popcorn in the bowl. Using a spatula, gently fold the popcorn to coat it evenly without crushing it.
  5. Spread the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet in an even layer. Allow to cool completely at room temperature for about 10–15 minutes.
