Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by popping 12 cups of popcorn using your stovetop or an air popper. Transfer to a large mixing bowl, ensuring to sift through and remove any unpopped kernels.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1/3 cup of half and half or evaporated milk, 1/4 cup of light corn syrup, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves and allow to boil gently for about 3–4 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 2–3 drops of red or pink food coloring. Mix thoroughly until the color is evenly distributed.
- Drizzle the warm syrup over the prepared popcorn in the bowl. Using a spatula, gently fold the popcorn to coat it evenly without crushing it.
- Spread the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet in an even layer. Allow to cool completely at room temperature for about 10–15 minutes.
