Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of instant dry yeast, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 2 teaspoons of coarse salt until evenly mixed.
- Pour 1 and ½ cups of very warm water and 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until a shaggy dough starts to form.
- Transfer the shaggy dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 4 to 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Shape the kneaded dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Gently punch down the dough, divide it in half, and shape each piece into a loaf. Place them in greased loaf pans.
- Place the loaf pans in a cold oven with a shallow pan of water. Preheat the oven to 400°F and bake for about 40 minutes.
- Once baked, carefully remove the bread from the pans and transfer to a wire cooling rack. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
