Ingredients

For the Brownies
  • 2 boxes Family-Sized Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownies Provides a rich, chocolatey base; substitute with any brownie mix that has similar egg and liquid ratios.
  • 6 large eggs Essential for moisture and binding; you can use 4 eggs for a lighter texture if preferred.
  • 1/2 cup water Activates the brownie mix; no substitutions necessary.
  • 1 cup vegetable oil Adds richness and moisture; light olive oil or melted coconut oil works well too.
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Enhances chocolate flavor and texture; feel free to use dark or milk chocolate chips instead.
For the Dipping
  • 1 1/2 cups Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate wafers Creates a luscious outer layer; chocolate bark is a great budget-friendly substitute.
  • Heart Sprinkles Optional; adds a festive decoration; any colored sprinkles can be used for extra charm.

Equipment

  • Jelly Roll pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Parchment paper
  • Microwave
  • Cooling Rack
  • Cookie Cutter

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a Jelly Roll pan by spraying it with cooking spray and lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix with 6 eggs, 1/2 cup water, and 1 cup vegetable oil. Mix until just combined, ensuring no lumps.
  3. Gently fold in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips into the mixture.
  4. Pour the batter into your prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely in the pan.
  6. Carefully lift the brownies from the pan using the parchment paper and cut out heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
  7. Place the heart-shaped brownies in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  8. Melt 1 1/2 cups of dark chocolate wafers in a small bowl in the microwave, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  9. Dip each frozen brownie heart into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off. Place on a cooling rack.
  10. Immediately sprinkle your favorite heart sprinkles on the melted chocolate before it sets.
  11. Place the brownies in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
  12. Store your Chocolate Dipped Brownie Hearts in a sealed container until ready to serve.
