Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by baking your chocolate cake according to the package instructions, preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to cool completely.
  2. Pour heavy cream into a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until stiff peaks form, about 3-5 minutes. Gently fold in a touch of sugar for sweetness.
  3. Wash and pit fresh cherries, then slice in half. If using canned cherries, drain excess liquid. Reserve whole cherries for garnishing.
  4. In a clear trifle dish, layer chocolate cake pieces, then halved cherries, and whipped cream. Repeat until reaching the top, finishing with whipped cream.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.
